Hi! I am Your Navy Mom, Kathryn Galaway!
It is an honor to be on this journey with you. I have learned to Military Mom my way to Peace, but it wasn’t always like this. Before I get into that, I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself. I have five adult children, and two of them are sailors. To say that I am a proud mama would be a giant understatement! I’m so proud of all my kiddos, I could go on and on, but I won’t. You’re welcome.
When Sailor #1 enlisted, while I was so excited for him and knew he was on the right path, I was a mess. I have never hurt like I hurt the day that bus bound for boot camp pulled away from the spot I was standing, sobbing uncontrollably. I cried all the way home. I cried when I put away his placemat. I cried when I made chili for the three of us, my husband, my younger son (soon to be Sailor #2), and me. I made enough chili for Sailor #1’s entire division. My husband came into the kitchen and asked me what happened. I looked at him with tears streaming down my face, and I answered, in between sobs, “I don’t know how to make chili for three people.” That was our life for a good while.
Now, let’s fast forward a couple of years when my last chick left the nest, you guessed it, en route to Navy Boot Camp. But, this is where things get good. I was okay. I decided that this experience was going to be different because I was going to be different. I even went on a family vacation while he was in boot camp. I was happy, and I wasn’t crying all over the place. Life was good.
The problem was that I saw other Navy Moms having my first experience, so I developed my program, From Enlistment to Boot Camp, A 28-Day Journey. This is the program I needed for Round 1. If I can have a better experience the second time around, you can have a great experience the FIRST time around!
I want to connect with you in any way that works for you. Read my blogs, connect with me on Facebook, set up a Discovery Session! However I am involved in your journey, I tell you that it is a privilege and an honor. Thank you for your service.
