Look, I've been there. I have two sailors. I know what it's like to see your baby step on that bus. I have felt my heart get ripped out of my chest. I know what it feels like when you go back home and put away their placemat. That may sound silly...unless you've done it. I was standing on the street when Sailor #1's bus pulled away, crying so hard a total stranger came up and hugged me. (God bless you, whoever you are!)
